After an insane 2023 - 136 days spent flying to three continents, traveling to 22 countries and visiting over 40 cities, the WTLT girlies are back and busy at our home and HQ, Los Angeles with a lot of updates.
Since it's been a looong time since we've been on the blog, and we are revamping a lot of how we chat with you guys we thought we'd do a bit of a check in.
This past year has been a whirlwind, and while we've shared lots on our social media about the trip, the goal is always to help you feel ready to pack your bags and head to the airport - and we have tons of ideas coming your way.
This year is all about putting in the work - and we have so much to share with you - there is a ton coming your way in 2024.
There's a lot of new faces, so we thought a re-introduction was overdue.
Hi, it truly means the world that you've even read this far and are still going. We're Niki and Tiffany - a travel bff (well, sometimes besties and sometimes enemies since this is a safe space) duo that live laugh loves traveling.
We first became friends in 2016 really because everyone else was sick of hearing us making every conversation circle back to travel. If you're here, we hope that you also share the travel bug. Travel really is everything to us and our whole purpose behind starting Went There Loved That (cue our backstory).
In 2018 we decided to do a summer in Europe - nothing too crazy, just two college girls but we wanted to spend five weeks and explore as much as possible.
After a ton of annoying research and lots of frustrating and confusing moments in the planning process, we jet off.
We posted ton about our trip (as most people do) have the absolute best time of our lives, and head home. At this point, still not too interesting.
On August 13th, 2018, I (Niki here), started a blog. I’ve always really liked writing and came back from our trip obsessed with travel, so naturally my first post was all about how we went to Europe with only what we saved from our SMALL college paychecks.
Around the same time, Tiffany (who is a genius with research and recommendations) began a running list of everywhere we went and things we did right (and wrong) on our trips. People started asking, so we started passing both along.
It was, and very much still is, so wild to see how many people cared about our opinion when it came to traveling. The people wanted to know.
Surprisingly, a ton of people wanted OUR advice on their trips.
Fast forward to 2019. lil Niki here had just graduated college and I was stressed about my whole life’s plan, but knew I loved to travel. I realized that no one makes easily digestible, fun to read, complete itineraries to cities and sold them as travel guides. I mean, we would have bought them if they existed!
So on June 2nd, 2019, the idea behind Went There, Loved That was born.
But, as it usually does, life got busy, I got a big girl job, and this whole idea remained as a one sentence note on my phone. for a WHILE.
ENTER Tiffany: the driving force behind where we are today. In December 2019, I told Tiff about this whole dream of mine. Immediately, she signed up. Long story not super short, after actively building WTLT for almost 2 years, having the idea for almost 3, and obsessively traveling for almost 5 - we launched in 2021.
In January of 2023 we decided to quit our day jobs and travel for 6 months.
Our goal was and is to make as many guides as possible. Spending 136 days with someone, 24 hours a day, with the added stress of traveling and running a business, was, uh, interesting, but also the best experience of our life.
We learned so much about each city we visited, and fell deeper and deeper in love with travel each day. We know that the unknown holds so many people back from taking the leap - and that's where we come in. Our guides give you guys everything you need to be able to feel confident in your next adventure - and we aren't even close to being done.
We've now been back and hustling on cranking out these guides, continually learning how to manage a start up, growing Went There Loved That as a brand you can trust and love. We've picked up what you guys have put down, and want to keep creating content, blogs, vlogs, videos and most importantly guides that help get you off the doom scroll of wishing you were traveling and instead get you in a plane, feeling like you can take on the world.
As you may have caught on our social - we just finished filming something really exciting that we can't talk about now but can't wait to share later this year.
If you've ever bought a guide, followed us on social, liked a photo, or if you made it to the bottom of this blog - we're obsessed with you.
It's going to be a BUSY 2024 for our little business, and we again cannot even begin to find the words to thank you for tuning in.
More soon ;)
Xx,
Niki + Tiff
